Salles joins Panoz driving force
Former Champ Car racer Gualter Salles has joined the works Panoz line up for this year's American Le Mans Series
The 30-year-old from Rio de Janeiro will share a Panoz LMP 07 in the ALMS with German Klaus Graf, who was the team's test driver last year. They join Panoz regulars David Brabham and Jan Magnussen in the US-based team's squad.
"I am really pleased to have been able to secure the talents of a driver of Gualter's calibre," said team owner Don Panoz. "His racing experience in the US, determination and enthusiasm will, I am sure, add another dimension to our team. With David and Jan I am convinced that we have the strongest pairing in international sportscar racing. Their loyalty to Panoz is appreciated by all of us, and I and all my boys in the team are looking forward to a successful and full season of competitive racing."
Salles made his debut behind the wheel of last year's Panoz LMP 1, which is unique in the Prototype class in that it is front-engined, in ALMS Spring Training at Road Atlanta at the weekend. The season itself starts on March 4 at Texas Motor Speedway.
