Panoz to keep winning car
The Panoz ALMS team looks certain to continue racing with its LMP Roadster S next season after the three-year-old car took drivers David Brabham and Jan Magnussen to victory in Portland last weekend
Panoz has been developing its all-new LMP07 this season, but it has proved uncompetitive, and following last Sunday's win in Oregon with the older car, it looks as though the new car won't race again.
"We will not be going back to the LMP07 this year," said Brabham, whose last win was 12 months ago - in the Roadster S. "The team is concentrating on the old car and we haven't got the resources to also develop the new one."
The team is lobbying boss Don Panoz to develop the Roadster S over the winter. Engineers believe there is more to come from the car which has seen no development since the LMP07 - which Brabham described as a 'museum piece - was finished last year. Major revisions to the older car would be its third facelift since its debut in 1997.
