Mansell finishes 7th as Maserati win
The Vitaphone Maserati MC12 has taken overall victory of the FIA GT round at Silverstone as Nigel Mansell ended his first race in the series in seventh place in the GT2 class
The Briton's #63 Ferrari 430 of Scuderia Ecosse, shared with Chris Niarchos, finished in 21st position overall, two laps down on the #50 AF Corse Motorola Ferrari of Toni Vilander and Dirk Muller, GT2 winners in 14th place overall.
GT1 and overall winners were Thomas Biagi and Mika Salo in the #1 Maserati, after keeping the Carsport Holland #5 and PK Carsport #4 Corvettes of Jean-Denis Deletraz/Mike Hezemans and Anthony Kumpen/Bert Longin respectively behind. The two American cars finished in second and third places.
Fourth place was taken by the #33 Aston Martin DBR3 of team Jetalliance Racing, with Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp.
Fifth and sixth went to the Maseratis #11 (Scuderia Playteam Sarafree's Andrea Bertolini/Andrea Piccini) and #2 (Vitaphone's Miguel Ramos/Christian Montanari).
Second and third place in GT2 went to the two Racing Team Edil Cris's Ferrari 430s: respectively #52 (Paolo Ruberti/Damien Pasini) and #53 (Matteo Cressoni/Michele Rugolo).
