FIA GT Superpole: Enge on top
Czech racer Tomas Enge claimed pole position at his home circuit for tomorrow's FIA GT Championship race
The Formula 3000 points leader, who is making a one-off return to the series at Brno, beat the Larbre Chrysler Viper of Christophe Bouchut in the Superpole session to claim the top spot behind the wheel of BMS Scuderia Italia's Ferrari 550 Maranello.
"It was more the car than me," said a modest Enge. "But I do know the track extremely well, so that gives me a big advantage."
Jamie Campbell-Walter will start the race from third in his Lister Storm. But the Briton was unhappy with Bouchut's tactics. "I felt that Bouchut, who was on his in-lap 100 metres ahead of me, was kicking up a lot of dust, which put me off a bit," he said. "We will start from third on the grid, which is not a big problem. We've won before from the back of the grid!"
Christian Pescatori delivered Ferrari a pole double by going fastest in the N-GT class. That was despite his JMB Ferrari 360 Modena carrying 40kg of success ballast following the car's victories in the first two rounds of the season.
