FIA GT practice: Enge's comeback

Formula 3000 points leader Tomas Enge made a perfect return to the FIA GT Championship by topping both free practice sessions at his home circuit of Brno today (Friday)

The Czech driver has joined Andrea Piccini and Jean-Denis Deletraz in the BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello this weekend. The car suffered an electrical problem, thought to be related to its Silverstone retirement, in the first session. But it wasn't enough to stop Enge.

"Last year I drove a Porsche in the N-GT class here," he said. "This year, I am driving this big car which I enjoy a lot. We had an electrical problem with the car, so we lost almost 20 minutes at the end of the first session and I was slightly surprised to be fastest."

Jamie Campbell-Walter's Lister Storm was second fastest in both sessions, with the Larbre Chrysler Viper of Christophe Bouchut and David Terrien third.

Silverstone winners Fabio Babini and Marc Duez endured a difficult day. A sensor problem in the first session lost them an hour getting the car started, then the front left tyre was punctured in the second practice.

The Autorlando Sport Porsche of Toto Wolff and Philipp Peter was the fastest N-GT class car over the two sessions.
