Wirth replaces Anderson at Reynard

Former Simtek Grand Prix team owner and Benetton chief designer Nick Wirth will replace Jordan-bound Gary Anderson as technical director at Reynard Motorsport (for separate story, click HERE)

Wirth has been out of the sport for three years since leaving Benetton, and has since concentrated on building a robotics company.

"This is an exciting opportunity for me to join a highly successful company which is renowned for the excellence of its products," said Wirth. "I'll be joining a strong team of talented engineers and I'm looking forward to working with them on all the various projects, particularly the development of the championship winning Reynard Champ Car.

"I've recently taken an interesting and stimulating sabbatical away from motor racing, but I've always felt there's been unfinished business for me in the sport - now I'm back to take on new challenges. Moving to the role of technical director is a natural progression from that of chief designer and I'll be looking to move the department forward, building on the success that the company has consistently achieved over many years."

Reynard won its seventh successive CART constructors' championship this year.
