Wilson happy with team progress

Justin Wilson believes that the pace RuSPORT showed during last weekend's Champ Car meeting at Monterrey, Mexico proves that his team are making progress

Wilson was fastest in Friday qualifying to secure a place on the front row, and comfortably held the lead during the middle period of the race, until eventual winner Sebastien Bourdais moved ahead of him during the pitstops.

Wilson finished second to take the fifth Champ Car podium of his career and teammate A.J. Allmendinger joined him on the rostrum after finishing third.

"I'm pleased with second, and it's great that A.J. was up there on the podium for RuSPORT, as well," said Wilson.

"Obviously, it's a little bit disappointing that we didn't get the win, but we gave Sebastien a run for his money today. The team gave me great pitstops, but Sebastien had the edge on us fuel-wise.

"I was pushing really hard in the final stint, and it was encouraging that we could keep up with Sebastien when we were on the black Bridgestone tires and he was on the alternate reds.

"It's not like Long Beach where he ran away with it, and it shows that we're making progress."

Wilson missed the post race press conference while being attended to in the medical centre after complaining of being overheated.
