Will Bratt confident of making Formula 2 return at Spielberg

Will Bratt is confident of returning to the Formula 2 grid in time for the next round of the championship at Spielberg in Austria

The 23-year-old Briton was forced to miss last weekend's Brands Hatch double-header for budgetary reasons, despite having taken his first series win at Spa-Francorchamps recently.

But he believes that he can find the funding to complete the season, despite admitting that the potential points lost at Brands have dropped him out of title contention.

"We started the year with really only enough budget for the first two races at Silverstone, somehow though we managed to get halfway through the season," said Bratt.

"Not doing Brands was a serious blow as it's both a circuit I like and a circuit I've won on three times in the past. I was very confident we'd have been really competitive this weekend.

"The F2 organisation has been brilliant but, at the end of the day, there's only so much you can do if you can't raise the funds.

"Although it's not mathematically impossible, the title bid is over. But I want to be back to fight for more race wins. We're talking to several potential sponsors and I am confident of being in the car for Austria, although we've got nothing secured at this point in time."

By missing Brands, Bratt dropped to fourth place in the F2 standings, 95 points behind series leader Mirko Bortolotti.
