Tagliani rues missed opportunity

Alex Tagliani was left ruing a missed opportunity after finishing sixth in today's Grand Prix Prix of Cleveland

The Canadian, like RSPORTS teammate Justin Wilson, had been disappointed with his qualifying performance in ninth, but had been running in the top six and had an entertaining dice with Paul Tracy, before, under yellow flags, he had to make an extra pitstop, which demoted him to sixth place.

Said Tagliani: "We had a problem refueling and we did not get all the fuel in the car, so we had to do an extra stop. On top of that, we had to save fuel at the end of the race. So, it was unfortunate; everyone was disappointed about that because we probably would have had a podium finish.

"We were dicing with Paul at a certain point and I think that my #8 RSPORTS car was as quick as the Forsythe car. So basically, we just missed out on a fantastic opportunity. We just need to get back and work on our pitstops and refueling for Tremblant.

"Also, we will have to work on improving the car for qualifying and then we should be good. The points are getting very tight in the championship, so with this race we are happy that we are still fourth in the standings and we just have to keep moving forward."

Aside from the yellows caused by Tracy's collisions, there were two other full course cautions in the race. One was to recover the wreck caused when Tristan Gommendy understeered through the grass on the exit of Turn 9 and thumped into Jan Heylen's Conquest Racing machine, scattering debris and dirt over the track.

The second came when Sebastien Bourdais' car broke down with no oil pressure, at the same time as Dan Clarke's Minardi Team USA entry spun into the infield - at the same time as Servia's sidepod had to be retrieved after flying off on the pit straight.
