Stoneman cool ahead of title finale
Dean Stoneman is determined to approach this weekend's Formula 2 finale at Valencia the same as every other race, despite being within reach of the title and prize Formula 1 test drive
He is 31 points ahead of rival Jolyon Palmer with just 50 on offer, and already has his eyes on the day with Williams.
"It gives me a bit of breathing space, I've got a race in hand, but I'm approaching it just like any other," he said. "I'm going for the Williams drive and hopefully that will open up some doors for me and I can progress further to F1."
Palmer admitted that he is a long shot, but refuses to give up while it is still mathematically possible: "I've got nothing to lose so I've no pressure on me," he said.
"Realistically, I lost the majority of my hope at Oschersleben with that second qualifying. I'll just go all out to get two wins and anything can happen. Dean has been a pretty tough competitor - we've had a really good rivalry this whole year. It has brought out the best in me."
