Sports: Tracy to race at Daytona
Paul Tracy has become the latest big name in American racing to sign up to the Daytona 24 Hours later this month
The Canadian will drive for a four-man effort for Michael Shank Racing in a Lexus Riley Daytona Prototype. He will join Paul Mears Jr, former Indy Lights competitor Mike Borkowski and former Champ Car Atlantic driver Kenny Wilden.
It is the second straight season that Tracy will compete in the prestigious event. He ran with Bell Motorsports last season and led early on, but mechanical problems forced an early retirement.
"Running at Daytona really helped my preparation for the Champ Car season last year, and I wanted to come back and do it again," Tracy said.
"Running with Mike Shank is a great opportunity for me, his team knows how to win in the Prototypes, his driver lineup is solid and he has a reputation of putting strong cars on the track. It should be a great opportunity."
Tracy will join fellow Champ Car racers Justin Wilson and AJ Allmendinger in the race. IRL racers Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon will pilot a Ganassi Racing entry, and will compete against fellow IRL racers Adrian Fernandez, Bryan Herta, Buddy Rice, Dario Franchitti and Patrick Carpentier.
