Servia searching for elusive victory

Catalan Oriol Servia is still chipping away at achieving his first milestone victory in the Champ Car World Series, presented by Bridgestone and powered by Ford. This Sunday, at the Molson Indy Toronto, he will celebrate his 29th birthday and Servia can think of no place he'd rather celebrate than in Victory Lane

Currently lying sixth in the championship, Servia is only a point ahead of Adrian Fernandez and six behind Sebastien Bourdais, so at the very least he will be looking to close the gap ahead and open one behind. With eight points finishes out of nine races, including a second place at Milwaukee, he looks like he has the car under him.

"The Visteon/Patrick Racing Team has had some good performances this season," said Servia, "but we have to get on the podium on a regular basis starting now or we will not accomplish our goal of winning a championship."

The Canadian race takes place on a 1.75-mile temporary street circuit and Servia is in a positive frame of mind, despite it not being a circuit that has been kind to him in the past. He qualified 11th and finished 11th in 2000 and started 11th for a 23rd place finish in 2001.

"It is great to be back on the Toronto street circuit," he said. "I always liked this city and track. The Toronto circuit has good braking areas and there are a couple of places where you can pass, which should make for an exciting race,"

In 20 previous appearances in Toronto Patrick Racing has qualified in the top ten a total of 13 times, with seven top five starts and two poles (Emerson Fittipaldi in 1986 and 1989). It has finished in the top ten a total of 12 times including six top five showings and one victory (Fittipaldi in 1987).
