Rob Huff joins Starworks for United SportsCar Championship enduros

Former World Touring Car champion Rob Huff will contest selected rounds of the new-for-2014 United SportsCar Championship in America for Starworks Motorsport

Huff, who will race fulltime for Lada in this year's WTCC, will share a Starworks ORECA FML09 LMPC prototype in selected rounds of the inaugural USC season, as part of a driver line-up that features last year's GP2 Series runner-up Sam Bird.

Huff, 34, will contest the season-opening Daytona 24 Hours, Sebring 12 Hours plus Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans events.

"It's really exciting to be joining Starworks Motorsport for its 2014 campaign and I believe prototype sportscars will complement my full-time efforts in the WTCC perfectly," said Huff.

"I'm looking forward to pitting myself against such a vast mix of world-renowned drivers from the highest echelons of single-seater and sportscar racing - it will provide me with a real benchmark for my own performances - and it will be particularly as part of the newly-unified Grand-Am and American Le Mans championships, which has massive potential."

Peter Baron, the Starworks Motorsport owner, added: "I've been following Rob's racing. He is a proven winner, a world champion no less, so to have him with us in 2014 is great news."

Huff, who won the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in California with Rotek Racing at the end of 2013, will drive for Starworks for the first time in this week's 'Roar Before the Rolex 24' test that begins at Daytona on Friday.
