Race director Cotman promoted
Champ Car World Series race director Tony Cotman has been promoted to the role of Executive Vice President, Operations, with immediate effect
Cotman, who has been heavily praised for his work in race control in the past two and a half seasons, will take responsibility for much of the day-to-day running of the series.
He will also retain his race director role until a suitable replacement is found.
Steve Johnson remains in his position as series president.
"Tony is extremely knowledgeable about the operations of the Champ Car World Series and I believe increasing his areas of responsibility will be beneficial to our company as we focus on the opportunities ahead of us," Johnson said.
Cotman welcomed his new role and said he was confident about Champ Car's future prospects.
"I'm thankful to Steve and the series owners for presenting me with this opportunity," he said.
"I'm committed to Champ Car and know that we have opportunities ahead of us that will require additional attention from me. It's a great time to make this change given the solid team that we have in place."
