Priaulx joins Race of Champions

Reigning World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx has confirmed his participation in the Race of Champions - which be held at Wembley Stadium for the first time this year

The event will see Michael Schumacher return to competition for the first time since retiring from Formula One at the end of 2006.

The RoC pits 16 drivers from across all motorsport disciplines in head to head contests in a major sporting stadium.

After several years at the Stade de France in Paris, it will take place in the UK for the first time in its history this season, on a temporary asphalt circuit that is being constructed inside the new Wembley Stadium.

Priaulx will represent England in the Nations Cup element of the event, where he will be paired with Honda F1 driver Jenson Button.

"I was invited to drive in the event last year in the Stade de France and it was amazing," said Priaulx.

"The atmosphere was great and the racing was a lot of fun. It is also great to be able to race for your country."

This year's RoC takes place on 16 December, and will raise money for the Institute for Cerebral and Spinal Cord Disorders, an organisation that counts Schumacher amongst its founding members.

Other drivers already lined up for the 2007 RoC include David Coulthard and former World Rally champion Colin McRae, who team up to represent Scotland.
