Peugeot reduce Petit Le Mans assault
Peugeot have reduced their assault on next month's Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta to a one-car programme, following the accidents that befell the team in the Le Mans Series finale at Silverstone two weeks ago
The French manufacturer lost both the LMS drivers' and constructors' titles after Nicolas Minassian crashed heavily and Stephane Sarrazin collided with Rinaldo Capello during the Autosport 1000km.
And having previously planned to take both their regular LMS crews to the American Le Mans Series finale on October 5, Peugeot will now combine the two with Minassian, Sarrazin and Christain Klien sharing the No.7 car, which will have a special grey livery.
"The incidents at Silverstone have called for us to otherwise commit technical resources which were initially planned for Road Atlanta," said Peugeot Sport Director Michel Barge. "It is important for Peugeot to take part in this race in order for the team and the technical department to gain even more experience.
"To ensure we have the necessary resources that our participation in this race requires, just as we did at Sebring earlier this year, we have consequently decided to enter just one car."
Sarrazin's regular co-driver Pedro Lamy will also go to Road Atlanta to assist in the team's pre-race test.
