Pescarolo take third LMS win

Pescarolo Sport took their third victory in as many Le Mans Series races after dominating the 1000km of Nurburgring

The No. 17 car of Emmanuel Collard, Jean-Christophe Boullion and Eric Helary won the six-hour race by an impressive lead of three laps.

Collard and Boullion have been at the helm for all three of the French team's victories this year.

The real battle of the race was for second place. Pole-sitters Creation snatched the position with just ten minutes to go, having fallen down the order midway through the race, thanks to Beppe Gabbiani suffering a puncture and losing two laps.

However, Creation were given a shot at taking the position, when the second-placed Racing for Holland Dome made a late race pitstop.

Minassian's Creation set about chasing down the Dome, and when Alex Yoong made a mistake with ten minutes to go, Minassian sneaked by to take the runner-up spot.

It is the first podium of the season for the team that missed the last round at Spa after Felipe Ortiz crashed the car beyond repair in practice.

Creation team boss Ian Bickerton was delighted with Minassian's performance.

He said: "He's more than a mega today. He's a mega, mega! Beppe and Felipe both drove very well, but Nic was matchless.

"I didn't think he was going to be able to take second as he kept hitting traffic but he kept the pressure on and it paid off."

Yoong's finished third, also taking the first podium of the year for Racing for Holland.

"It's too bad I made a mistake in the end, I was pushing a bit too hard. That made it possible for Creation to overtake us with 10 minutes to go," said Yoong. "It's been a delight driving here and I'm very happy for the team with this result".

The Team Larbre Aston Martin of Pedro Lamy, Gabrielle Gardelle and Vincent Vosse won the GT1 class, by ten seconds from the Alphand adventures Corvette of Luc Alphand, Jerome Policand and Patrice Goueslard.
