Pastorelli to join Rocketsports test
Former Jordan tester Nicky Pastorelli continues to be in the frame for a drive at Rocketsports this season after the team confirmed he will join them for the rookie test at Milwaukee Mile this week
Rocketsports, who ran a one-car team for Antonio Pizzonia in the season opener at Long Beach, tested Pastorelli at Portland earlier this month in addition to Pizzonia, but have not announced their race drivers for the remainder of the season.
Pastorelli's inclusion as part of the test for Champ Car's only oval race this season bodes well for the Dutchman getting the opportunity to race at the track on June 4.
"I am curious to see what it is like driving on an oval," said Pastorelli. "I have never raced on an oval in my career, so this will be a first for me.
"I have heard many different stories about running on ovals; some people say they have had a fantastic experience, while others have said it was horrible.
"I am really looking forward to finding out myself. I am happy that the rookies in Champ Car get this chance to have a day of testing in preparation for the event coming up in June because it will be interesting to see how they do as well."
