New two-car team confirmed

Pacific Coast Motorsports have announced they will be racing in the 2007 Champ Car World Series

The squad, based in Ventura, California, currently run a GrandAm team, but their two drivers Ryan Dalziel and Alex Figge - both previous stars of the Atlantic Championship - will return to single-seaters as PCM's Champ Car drivers.

Tyler Tadevic, PCM Team Director, commented on the team's 2007 expansion plans:

"We're thrilled to be expanding our operations for next season into the Champ Car World Series and of course continuing our relationship with the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. It's an exciting time for the team and our partners and we look forward to making further announcements regarding these programs in the near future."

Dalziel made his Champ Car race debut for Dale Coyne Racing at Toronto in 2005, but had long been associated with PKV Racing with whom he tested impressively before last season. Since then, the Scot had been happy to earn a living in GrandAm, but had long admitted his ambitions lay still with single-seaters.

This latest announcement brings to four the number of new cars to appear on the Champ Car grid next year. Gelles Racing, one of the top Champ Car Atlantic teams, announced in July they would be graduating to Champ Cars in 2007.

Over the next seven days, another Atlantic team is expected to announce it will be following Gelles' lead and ordering the Panoz DP01, in time to start next year's first round of the Champ Car World Series at Las Vegas.
