Moreno looking for new employment
Roberto Moreno is looking for a new drive as his time as Mark Blundell's substitute comes to an end
The Brazilian has driven for the team since Blundell injured his back in testing at St.Louis in May. Moreno has impressed everyone by beating his team mate Mauricio Gugelmin and leaping to 11th in the overall standings despite missing half the season.
'I thank Bruce McCaw and the entire PacWest team very much for a fantastic chance to show what I can do,' he said. 'Of course it will be very difficult to leave PacWest, but I'm a race car driver. I think I deserve to be in another car and I'll chase it until I find a ride.'
'Roberto has done a magnificent job and clearly deserves a full-time ride,' said a team spokesman. 'We're just sorry that PacWest are not in a position to offer him one now. He has been a true credit to our organisation and we certainly wish him all the best.'
Moreno will drive for the team in today's US500 but is then out of a drive. Rumours have linked him with PJ Jones' drive at Patrick Racing after the American's poor performances this season. Jan Magnussen and JJ Lehto have also been mentioned in connection with the Patrick seat.
