Malaysia Change Driver Strategy
A1 Team Malaysia have announced a change of strategy for the forthcoming A1 Grand Prix races at Estoril and Australia, and will choose one driver to run the entire weekend
GP2 racer Fairuz Fauzy will drive the team's yellow car this weekend at Estoril, before handing over to former Minardi driver Alex Yoong at the following race at Eastern Creek.
The team will then decide on their strategy for their home race at Sepang, the fifth round of the championship.
So far, Malaysia have been the only team to split A1 GP's sprint and feature races between two drivers. Fauzy raced the sprint at Brands Hatch before handing over the car to Yoong for the feature race.
The team announced a similar plan for the second round at Lausitz, however Yoong drove broth races after Fauzy became ill.
A1 Team Malaysia's team principal Jack Cunningham said: "Fairuz will do all the driving this weekend as Alex, with his knowledge of the circuit in Australia, will carry out all the driving duties there. We will be assessing how this strategy will work over the coming two races.
"We had a good weekend in Germany with our sixth place finish and I hope that we can continue with this level of performance in Estoril.
"We don't know the track, so we don't underestimate the challenge ahead, but we have a dedicated team of motorsport professionals and the will to win, so we'll be out to do our best."
