Kurosawa to drive for Dale Coyne Racing
Japanese racer Tukuya Kurosawa has signed up to drive for renamed CART outfit Dale Coyne Racing in 2000.
The 32-year-old, who has contested the British Formula Ford series and Formula Nippon, begins testing his new racecar at US circuits Sebring and Homestead next week.
'He's a real likeable guy and has lots of experience,' said team owner Dale Coyne.
'I first saw him in '93, when he qualified on pole for a Formula 3000 race at Fuji.'
In 1997, Kurosawa was runner-up to F1 driver Pedro de la Rosa in the Formula Nippon championship, and finished ninth in the category last year - even after missing races when his team folded.
Dale Coyne Racing, formerly Payton-Coyne, has been renamed following the death of co-owner Walter Payton in 1999.
The new outfit, which ran with Michel Jourdain Jr, Dennis Vitolo and Luiz Garcia Jr in 1999, plans to field two cars in 2000.
'We're talking with several drivers [including 1999 Indy Lights champion Oriol Servia] and hope to make a decision by the middle of January.'
