Kristensen wins Hockenheim pole
Tom Kristensen gave the JAS Engineering team their first pole position at Hockenheim today
For the penultimate round of the season, the German Supertouring Championship is using the Hockenheim short track, 2.638 km, mainly round the Motodrom.
Kristensen has been fast throughout the weekend, leading in two of the free practice sessions, and setting the second quickest time in the third.
A number of people set provisional pole, but Kristensen's time of 1:03.749 could not be equalled, and he was the only driver to go under 1:04.
'I'm very pleased to have given Honda their first pole,' the Da+nish driver said afterwards.
'The team has worked very hard for this result.
'Tomorrow is another question, but I am very positive and we'll see what happens.'
Second place went to the 1996 ITC Champion, Manuel Reuter, driving an Opel Vectra, with Kris Nissen's Audi A4 quattro in third place - three manufacturers in the top three spots.
Championship contenders Alzen and Abt did not fare so well, with Abt unable to improve on tenth place, while Alzen finished fourth.
Abt currently leads the championship by 44 points, with a maximum of 90 points available
per event.
