Keller takes Pole Award

"It's been a long time," said a happy Jason Keller after

scoring his first Bud Pole award in almost four long years, making it five inhis Busch Series career. Keller's qualifying effort on Friday afternoon for
the Moore's Snacks 250 at the .533-mile, high banked Bristol Motor Speedway
was a 15.597 second lap, at an average speed of 123.024 mph.

"To come to a race track as tough as Bristol, track position means probably
more here than a lot of places we go to," Keller said. "We've got a lot of
work to do to get it tightened up for the race, but the first step was a good
one.

"The fastest lap was the first lap, like most cars. I don't know if it was
the weather or what, but the track was pretty loose. It was one of those
white-knuckle laps at Bristol."

Kevin Grubb, who has missed two races this season after failed qualifying
attempts, will start second. Grubb's 15.639 second lap at 122.693 mph was
.042 second slower than Keller.

"This is a new starting point. We've had some bad weeks," said Grubb "I think
we're gonna be able to come out of here on a more consistent basis in
qualifying and the races."

Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate Adam Petty lines up third, followed by
Sterling Marlin and Shane Hall for the top-5 starting positions.

Last week's race winner, Jeff Green, qualified sixth fastest, and he's
followed by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Ken Schrader, Brad Loney and Dave Blaney.

Mike McLaughlin, Todd Bodine, Larry Pearson, Chuck Bown, Bobby Hillin, Mark
Green and Hank Parker, Jr. had to use provisionals to make the grid.

Ted Christopher, Freddie Query, Gary Bradberry, Jason Jarrett, Hermie Sadler,
Kelly Denton and Elliott Sadler, subbing for recovering Andy Santerre, failed
to qualify.

The Moore's Snacks 250 is scheduled to start at 1:15 p.m. EDT on Saturday,
April 10.
