Jordan acquires Scientio artificial intelligence

Scientio Inc, a US-owned artificial intelligence and 'data mining' specialist whose EU base is in Woburn Sands, UK, has won a contract to supply Jordan Grand Prix at Silverstone with analysis software which identifies links and patterns between data sets. The F1 team will immediately apply the technology to many areas, from aerodynamic test data to pitstop strategies. In the future, Jordan hopes that it will enable its engineers to understand the racecar as a whole

James Key, Jordan's head of vehicle science, said: "We're looking forward to a prolific partnership. A vast amount of data surrounds an F1 car, most of which can be linked in some way. We believe Scientio's expertise will prove extremely useful in assisting us with pulling this data together and understanding the car as a whole.

"We've already identified many projects with which Scientio's assistance will be fundamental. The first project to be undertaken concerns an important area of performance which should reap some very interesting results."

Scientio technical director Dr Andy Edmonds commented: "We're delighted to be working with Jordan - they have a refreshing and open attitude to technology. They've given us a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate the benefits and performance of our products in one of the most challenging environments."

As well as supplying software for .Net and Java platforms, Scientio undertakes consultancy and bespoke research.
