Jarvis set for Okayama Audi drive

Audi motorsport chief Dr Wolfgang Ullrich has confirmed that Oliver Jarvis will make his debut in the Kolles R10 TDI in the Asian Le Mans Series event at Okayama - and that the drive could be a precursor to the Briton becoming a major part of Audi's LMP1 programme

Jarvis has been impressing in a year-old Phoenix Audi in the DTM this year, taking two podium finishes and a pole position against strong opposition from the state of the art cars. Those results have put him ninth in the championship going into the final two events.

As predicted recently by AUTOSPORT magazine, the 25-year-old will now make his first LMP1 appearance in next month's one-off Asian LMS race in Japan.

"I think so yes," Ullrich told AUTOSPORT when asked if Jarvis' debut was now confirmed. "This is what we have planned."

He said the Briton was potentially in line for a larger role in Audi's sportscar programme if he continued his current form.

When asked if Jarvis was set to become an Audi works driver in the future, Ullrich replied: "Maybe. He is really doing a good job."

But the team boss stopped short of committing to putting Jarvis in one of Audi's front-line DTM teams in 2010.

"We will see when the season is over," Ullrich said.
