Japan GP inside line

Suzuka is, of course, Honda's home race and there is talk of a special 980bhp engine for BAR at the Japanese Grand Prix. Can it make the difference? Jenson Button himself is none too optimistic, pointing out that Suzuka has a lot of similarities with Silverstone and that both Ferrari and McLaren were highly competitive at the British Grand Prix.

Despite his lapse in China, Michael Schumacher remains the 4-6 favourite to win at Suzuka, with Rubens Barrichello at 7-2 and Kimi Raikkonen, 7- 1. Those of you who fancy Button to break his duck can take advantage of 10-1 on the Briton while BAR team-mate Takuma Sato, who ran so strongly here last year remember, is on offer at 25-1.

You would imagine that the team is too strong a contender and too deeply embroiled in its battle with Renault for the constructors championship runner-up slot to go for a light fuel pole position glory run in front of Honda's home crowd but, just in case they do, It might be worth considering Sato for the pole at 14-1.

Against that, however, are the typhoon warnings that suggest Suzuka could be in for a soaking on Saturday and Sunday. If it's that heavy, it will work in Bridgestone's favour, so don't forget about the long-shot on Giancarlo Fisichella's Sauber for a podium. The Italian is on offer at 20-1 for a top three finish.
