Halliday to test for Conquest
New Zealand's Matt Halliday will test for Conquest Racing during the two-day test at Laguna Seca, the team announced on Wednesday
The test, which begins on Friday, will mark Halliday's return with Conquest, as he drove for the team in 2001 in the Indy Light series.
"I have good memories of my days with Conquest Racing when they were competing in Indy Lights in 2001 and I'm really excited about testing the DP01 car with them in Laguna Seca. It seems like a really fun car to drive," said Halliday.
"I can't thank Conquest Racing enough for giving me this opportunity and I hope it develops into a ride for the season."
Halliday, who had already tested for the team in 2005, has been competing in the A1GP championship this year.
Team owner Eric Bachelart said he would like Halliday to stay in the team during the 2007 season, but no deal has been signed yet.
"I'm delighted to be able to continue our relationship with Matt. He did a good job with us back in Indy Lights and I know that he has what it takes to do well in Champ Car," said Bachelart.
"He's a very talented driver and we're really happy to be testing him but we would like nothing more than to be able to work things out and keep him for the entire season."
