Gidley looks set for Vancouver

Ganassi Racing driver Memo Gidley, who injured his arm in a massive crash during Sunday's FedEx Champ Car race Elkhart Lake, is expected to be fit for the Vancouver event on September 2

According to Dr Terry Trammell, Gidley has suffered a bone contusion of his right femur, but should not have to miss a race.

"If his recovery continues as expected, he will be able to return to the car in Vancouver," said Trammell.

The 31-year-old American has competed in seven CART FedEx Series races this season, scoring two top-five finishes along the way.

Gidley is anxious to get back behind the wheel of his Lola-Toyota.

"I'm feeling fine, so it's great to hear from the doctor that I should be able to get back in the car at Vancouver," he said. "I've worked hard and long to be able race for a team like Target Racing, so it would have been very disappointing to miss a race. I'm healthy and confident that I can follow Bruno's [Junqueira] example and give Team Target two wins in a row."
