Final Brands Hatch bids this week
Estate management firm Jones Lang La Salle, which is handling the sale of the four UK race circuits owned by Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd - Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton - has instructed all five short-listed bidders to make binding offers by November 8. Among them are companies established by Robb Gravett and Jonathan Palmer. The successful bidder will be notified on November 17
Former British Touring Car Champion Gravett has created a purpose-formed company, , with his former manager, Kimmy Cockburn, and claims that adequate finance for the bid has been secured. "There has been a lot of talk about the buy-out, so we feel it is correct for us to announce our intention," Gravett said. "We have completed due diligence on the circuits and our plans extend way beyond simply buying them. Brands Hatch itself is in a sorry state and we have a lot of plans to develop the circuit for British motorsport into something good. We want to put something back into British motorsport.
"Everything I have done in the past, I have won, and I hope that will be the case this time too. We are reasonably confident. What we offer is good for everyone in motorsport. We are looking at championships, club racing - everything in UK motorsport. We have radical, positive plans."
Meanwhile Palmer, the owner of motorsport activities company in Bedfordshire, has confirmed in this week's Motorsport News that he has also bid for the venues and intends to continue running motorsport at the circuits.
BTCC team owner John Batchelor is reported to be a third bidder.
