F1 stars try out Superfund car
Formula 1 drivers Timo Glock and Bas Leinders are the latest big names to have tried out the new Formula Superfund SF01 car during this week's testing at Jerez in Spain as work continues on developing the chassis for next year's championship
Jordan driver Glock, who raced in four grands prix this year, completed a troublefree run on Wednesday, mainly focusing on tyre developments, before Minardi third driver Leinders took over on Thursday morning.
Glock was impressed with his experience of the car. He said: "The SF01 is a very impressive car and is sure to be a good training ground for young drivers looking to make the step up to Formula 1.
"In my experience, it's definitely the closest car to F1 in terms of horsepower as it's an incredibly powerful car. I'm used to traction control in F1 with less margins for oversteer and understeer but I found a good rhythm over the course of the session and clocked up 40 laps by the end of play today. We had a successful day assessing tyres and putting miles on the car - I think its looking good for next year."
