Empringham hopes to win seat
David Empringham is confident he will win the vacant seat at Player's Racing for 2000
The Toronto driver was one of three drivers undergoing tests at Sebring to see who will succeed Greg Moore.
Empringham, a double Atlantic champion and former Indy Lights title holder, is convinced his two-day test will the Player's management's decision even tougher.
'I hope that I was able to be the trump card in this selection process,' said the 34-year-old.
'It's a really big thrill to put the pedal to the metal and I know that the times I registered compare favourably to the other candidates.
'Overall I'm pleased with my performance and I'm just happy that I'm not the person who has to decide who's going to be the next driver.'
Vice-President of Player's CART Team, Neil Micklewright, said, 'He showed a lot of poise and I can say that he hasn't lost any of his skills behind the wheel.'
Micklewright must now choose between Empringham, Alexandre Tagliani and Lee Bentham.
