Derek Warwick remembers Ken Tyrrell
Former F1 racer Derek Warwick, although never drove for Ken Tyrrell, raced against his cars throughout his Grand Prix career, from 1983 until Warwick retired in 1993
"He was a true racer with integrity and honesty," said Warwick. "Somebody that struggled in the later years keeping up with technology, sponsors and marketing, he was a real character though that Bernie Ecclestone definitely wanted around his grids - I've heard rumours that he helped him out many a time.
"He was the perfect example of the gentleman team owner. I didn't know him that well but he always someone you admired.
"When we used to do long hauls Norah (his wife), used to lay down on the plane where your feet were and let Ken lay along on the seats!
"Not one person will have a bad word about Ken Tyrrell. You'll see what everyone thought of him by the size of the tribute on the day of his funeral. He had a good life, some great drivers and won some stunning races. He's a part of history."
