Carroll scores maiden feature pole

Adam Carroll secured his second pole position in as many rounds by topping the final qualifying segment for Sunday's A1GP feature race at Sepang

The Team Ireland driver, who won the sprint race from pole position at Chengdu two weeks ago, used his one lap with the power boost in qualifying to seal his first feature race pole.

"I wanted that one quite badly," said Carroll. "That's when I chose to use the boost and it was a good lap."

Danny Watts was second fastest for Team Great Britain, two tenths behind Carroll, with Daniel Morad scoring by far the best ever qualifying performance for Team Lebanon in third place.

Fairuz Fauzy took fourth for Team Malaysia on home soil with Filipe Albuquerque (Portugal) and Jeroen Bleekemolen (Netherlands) completing the top six.

Marco Andretti scored his best result yet for Team USA, qualifying eighth for the feature race.

Sprint race pole sitter Neel Jani's string of pole positions at Sepang came to an end when he qualified only 16th. The Swiss driver used his power boost in the earlier session for the sprint race and is left well down the grid for the feature.

"With the new rule you can use the push to pass only on one lap," said Jani. "I used mine in Q2 and some of the others used theirs in Q4 to be ahead, so it was pretty much clear that I wouldn't get that one."
