Bremer, Philippe Sorry for Pit Errors

Champ Car young guns Ronnie Bremer and Nelson Philippe were extremely contrite after crashing out of the Hurricane Relief 400 in separate incidents on pit road

One of the Dale Coyne Racing mechanics sustained wrist injuries when Bremer locked up while attempting to make his first pitstop and slid into the pit wall.

"I saw the guy too late when I was coming in and I locked up the tyres," said Bremer. "The problem is on the oval you run a different set-up, so it's hard coming into the pits, but it was my mistake, a rookie mistake."

The Dane had been running competitively in the top six prior to the incident.

"It was silly of me to throw it away," he said. "It was going really good and we were among the fastest cars on the track."

No one was injured when Conquest Racing driver Philippe lost control while trying to exit his pit later in the race.

"It's been a long time since I made a mistake and tonight I made a stupid one," he said. "I take full responsibility for it and I'm sorry for the team that worked very hard on my car. It's a shame, we could have finished in the top ten."
