Brazilians top closely matched test

This year's FedEx Champ Car series looks like being just as close and unpredictable as last season, as the top two cars set identical times - and the rest weren't far behind - over a three-day test at Sebring, Florida

Brazilians Roberto Moreno (Patrick Reynard-Toyota) and Christian Fittipaldi (Newman/Haas Lola-Toyota) both set 51.0s lap times on Thursday, eclipsing the 51.1s laps set earlier by Jimmy Vasser (Patrick Reynard) and Adrian Fernandez (Fernandez Reynard-Honda).

Japanese duo Tora Takagi (Walker Lola-Toyota) and Shinji Nakano (Fernandez Reynard) also set 51.1s, the latter taking over from Fernandez in his first test since the last year's Fontana finale.

"It was a good first test with the team," said Nakano. "The car was really good. I am learning the new car, the new engine - everything. The car was actually very easy to drive. I'm pretty happy."

Twelve drivers took part in the test, and all were within 0.4s of each other according to unofficial timing. It looks like we're in for another close-run title battle...
