Brack frustrated by fog at Laguna

CART championship favourite Kenny Brack's first test of 2002 at Laguna Seca Raceway was cut short by heavy fog

The Swede, who switched from Team Rahal to the four-time CART champion Target/Ganassi team managed to complete one full day of running despite the inclement coastal weather.

"It was a little frustrating to have to sit around all day waiting for the fog to clear," said Brack. "But is was a great time to sit chat with the guys. We weren't able to run as much as we had hoped for, but we continue to learn about this car and where we need to improve on it.

"We have a very busy off-season testing program and it feels good to have completed three tests already. I'm very pleased with what I've seen so far from this team."

Ganassi managing director Mike Hull was pleased with the test despite missing most of the second day.

"Kenny has quickly built a strong rapport with this team," said Hull. "This was a solid test for us. The Toyota engine was reliable for us once again, which is important when you are trying to turn as many laps as possible. Our season begins in less than two months now, and we have a lot of work ahead of us to make this car competitive."

Brack's next on-track action will come in a NASCAR Winston Cup car at Daytona this week. He returns to his Lola-Toyota Champ Car on January 21 at Sebring.
