Bourdais not Confident for IROC
Reigning Champ Car title-holder Sebastien Bourdais fears he won't manage a repeat of his famous Texas International Race of Champions victory when the series returns at Richmond this weekend
The Frenchman became the first single-seater racer for eight years to take a win in the one-make stock car series with his Texas victory, and was only the fourth non-American to win in the series.
This weekend's race is the third of four races this season, and Bourdais fears that he will be unable to challenge current series leader and NASCAR veteran Mark Martin because of his inexperience of the size of the Richmond oval.
"It's going to be extremely different," Bourdais said. "It's a three-quarter mile oval and I've never done that. Guys like Martin and the rest are extremely experienced in that and I expect to have quite a hard time especially since I'm going to miss some practice because of the a Champ Car test in the middle.
"I don't really know what to expect but I didn't know what to expect in Texas and won the race and we had a test in the middle of that week so we'll see where we end up. We're second in the point standings and there's a million dollars up for grabs so we're going to go for it for sure."
