Bourdais heads second practice
As ever, he left it until the last few minutes to show his hand, but Champ Car's triple title-winner Sebastien Bourdais clocked fastest time in Saturday morning's free practice session in Mexico City
The Newman/Haas Racing driver, whose commitment through the final turn, Peraltada, was awesome to watch, clocked a time a little over 0.2 seconds clear of RuSPORT driver Justin Wilson, though the Briton's final flyer was held up by CTE Racing-HVM driver Nelson Philippe.
In fact, the top six drivers from qualifying yesterday ended up in the same order in this morning's session, with Team Australia's Will Power proving that he could have the pace to take his second Champ Car pole position on the trot.
Bruno Junqueira was fourth for Newman/Haas, while Ryan Briscoe looked spectacular on his way to fifth place, but ended up 0.8 seconds shy of RuSPORT teammate Wilson.
David Martinez pipped Forsythe Championship Racing teammate Buddy Rice with his final flyer, the pair winding up eighth and ninth, a full 1.6 seconds off the ultimate pace.
