Blundell back for Road America
Mark Blundell will be back in the CART Championship this weekend after two months absence through injury
The PacWest driver has been sidelined since May 4 after sustaining a small fracture in a verterbra while testing at Gateway International Raceway.
The Briton, who drives a Motorola Mercedes-Benz, was testing yesterday at the Putnam Park road course in preparation for Sunday's Texaco/Halvoline 200 race.
After the session he said, 'I'm really glad that the team gave me the opportunity to test before Road America. I definitely felt the effects of not being in a racecar for two months.
'My neck was a bit sore afterwards, but we really had no problems.
'The last couple of months have been frustrating,' he added.
'I'm a racer - it's hard not to be sitting in the cockpit because it's such a big part of my life. I feel great and I'm itching to get back on the racetrack.'
Roberto Moreno has been deputising for the injured Blundell since the accident.
