Bad weather cancels Isle of Man TT Thursday afternoon practice
The Thursday afternoon practice session for the 2019 Isle of Man TT has been cancelled, although the evening session is still set to go ahead
Bad weather has blighted much of practice week for the 2019 event, with the Saturday, Monday and Wednesday sessions all cancelled as a result.
After the loss of Wednesday's running, TT organisers the ACU announced plans to hold two sessions for solos and Sidecars - one set for 1pm local time, and the next at 6.20pm. Persistent poor weather has forced the first session to be cancelled.
A brief statement from Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson read: "This afternoon's qualifying schedule has been cancelled due to poor visibility and weather conditions.
"Weather is due to improve later in the day, so I am cautiously optimistic for tonight's qualifying session to go ahead as planned."
A combined SSP/Lightweight session - the second of the week - has been added to this evening's schedule at 19.15pm, followed by Sidecars at 19.55pm and the Zero bikes at 20.40pm.
On Wednesday, Thompson confirmed plans were in place to postpone Saturday's opening SBK and Sidecar races to the Sunday to allow for another practice session should weather continue to affect running.
While one session has been lost on Thursday, it is not yet clear if this will result in the TT using this contingency plan, although this appears a more likely result should tonight's running be cancelled.
Double TT winner Dean Harrison led the times in the only SBK session this week on Tuesday with a lap of 17m28.610s at 129.53mph.
The Silicone Engineering rider was also fastest in the STK timings and is still the fastest SSP rider of the week courtesy of his 126.09mph lap from Sunday.
In the Sidecars, John Holden and passenger Lee Cain were fastest on their Silicone Barnes Racing outfit with his best effort of 19m41.234s at 114.99mph.
