Award winners enjoy prize F1 test

McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winners Paul di Resta and Oliver Jarvis had their prize tests in a Formula One car on Tuesday

Autosport Awards

The Autosport Awards celebrate top drivers and machines, with categories decided by votes and panels

The pair, who won the award in 2004 and 2005 respectively, each completed 20 laps at Silverstone in last year's McLaren MP4-21.

"When I first won the award the first thing I thought about was doing the test," said di Resta, who raced in the DTM this year with Mercedes.

"Having to wait three years to do it was actually quite good because I'm now far better prepared for it."

Jarvis, who has raced in Formula Three and A1GP since winning the award two years ago, hopes to use the test as a springboard for his career.

"The test has been in the back of my mind for a while," he said. "This is a great opportunity and I'm hopeful it could lead to something more in the future.

"Not many drivers test a McLaren so I want to make the most of it."
