Audi in front at half-distance

Audi are running first and second at the halfway point of the Sebring 12 Hours, but a series of yellows have kept the top LMP2 cars within striking distance of the R10 TDis

Marco Werner currently leads in the No.2 Audi, 13 seconds ahead of teammate Dindo Capello - the No.1 car having gone out of sequence after pitting for an additional fuel top-up under yellow.

But the remaining Penske Porsche, the lead Dyson car and the Andretti-Green Acura are also still on the lead lap with six hours to go.

Little racing has taken place in recent hours, with two extremely long yellows pausing the action.

The first came when Jean-Christophe Ravier had a heavy crash in the Barazi Epsilon Zytek. The Frenchman had to be assisted from the car by the medics, and although an initial examination has suggested that he escaped with any broken bones, Ravier has been taken to hospital so that shoulder pains can be investigated.

That incident caused a half hour caution, and 55 minutes the yellows came out again after Didier Theys lost control of the Horag Porsche and caused barrier damage. This time the safety car was required for an hour while the walls were repaired, and while some confusion over the running order was resolved.

With racing now back underway, Werner has pulled out a 22-second lead over Capello. A win for the No.2 car would be Audi's ideal result, as Werner and co-driver Lucas Luhr have been confirmed for the full Americans Le Mans season, whereas the No.1 crew are not expected to reappear in the series after Sebring.

Audi's main rivals Peugeot are now thoroughly out of contention. Although Stephane Sarrazin has set the race's fastest lap, the car's long stop for hydraulic repairs have left him 25 laps down in 19th overall.

Romain Dumas is just six seconds behind Capello in the Penske Porsche, having charged past the No.16 Dyson Porsche and the Andretti-Green Acura to regain the LMP2 class lead.

Corvette have now resumed their one-two in the GT1 class, although their two cars are nine laps apart after the No.4 car's earlier driveshaft problem.

They had been split by the Bell Motorsports Aston Martin until the car had to return to the paddock for repairs following a crash caused by brake issues.

There was a sensation in the GT2 class at the restart after the Theys incident. Risi Ferrari had maintained a one-lap advantage over the field despite a long stop for brake repairs and an inadvertent trip into the closed pit lane.

But in his efforts to affirm that one-lap lead after the restart, Jaime Melo made a rash move on Dirk Werner's second-placed Farnbacher Loles Porsche, putting both cars out of the race.

The collision has Wolf Henzler and Alex Davison's Flying Lizard Porsches into first and second in GT2.
