Audi calls on McNish for Petit Le Mans
Le Mans 24 Hours winner Allan McNish has been drafted in by Audi Sport North America to join his regular partner Rinaldo Capello in the team's assault on Petit Le Mans next month
McNish also joins Emmanuele Pirro in the second R10 TDI, while newly-crowned American Le Mans Series champions Lucas Luhr and Marco Werner will drive the sister car.
Autosport.com columnist McNish is bidding for his fourth Petit Le Mans victory and is aiming to keep his 100% winning record at Road Atlanta after victories in 2000 - with Capello and the late Michele Alboreto - and Capello for the last two years.
"Petit has been good for Dindo and I, we have raced three times and won there three times, but I think this year it will be very tough to call whether we can make it four out of four," said McNish.
"Until last week my season was due to finish at the last LMS round at Silverstone but I was pleased to be able to do this extra race in America."
Audi has never been beaten in the traditional ALMS season finale having won the event eight times since making its debut in 2000.
