Arrow MD calls for promotional funding
Commenting on the UK government's £16m funding strategy for the nation's motorsport industry over the next five years [Jul 11], Ian Arnold, the MD of Hinckley based Arrow Precision Engineering, has called for subsidies for global marketing activity. He said: "I'd like to see some of the funding used to encourage UK manufacturers to fly the flag. Many of us are primarily cottage industries but we produce world-class products. We need to promote our expertise throughout the world."
Arrow produces bespoke conrods, camshafts, cam followers, flywheels, spring seats, retainers, shims and many other competition engines components. Currently it promotes its services by advertising and by exhibiting each year at the Autosport Engineering show, in which it has had a stand for the past eight years.
"When we first exhibited at Autosport International, we were a new name in the UK market," Arnold continued. "Now we're known here [in the UK] and we use the show to introduce our products to overseas visitors, who increase every year. This is extremely important for us to get new export orders."
