Andros Trophy: Third round cancelled

Exceptionally mild weather in the Vosges region of France has forced the Andros Trophy to cancel the third round of this winter's series, due to be held at Xonrupt Longemer on the 6th and 7th of January

Yvan Muller, driving a Globalstar Astra, leads the Trophy after two rounds. His nearest rival is currently Stéphane Peterhansel, trailing by 16 points. However, the 6-times Dakar bike winner was given a last-minute opportunity to take part in this year's event in a Nissan Terrano, and will therefore miss the next two rounds of the Andros Trophy and Pilot Bike series in which he had planned to complete full seasons. After three stages of the gruelling Paris-Dakar, Peterhansel was in 15th place.

Peterhansel's place in the Nissan Micra will be taken by frequent Andros podium finisher James Ruffier, who is without a full-time seat this winter. The next round - weather permitting - will be at Lans-en-Vercors, on January 12th and 13th. This round should also see the return to the ice of front-runners Pierre Colard and Christophe Balas.
