Alzen beats the Audi's
Fresh from winning the GT class at Le Mans, Uwe Alzen broke the Audi's stranglehold on the German Super Touring Series at Oschersleben
The Opel driver dominated both races, although he was under heavy pressure from JAS Honda driver Tom Kristensen. The Dane, a former star of Formula 3000, outshone his team mate Gabriele Tarquini and was Alzen's only opposition all day.
Championship leader Christian Abt made superb starts in both races, but was restricted to a distant 4th place in the Sprint. He ran 2nd at the start of the Feature, but his heavily smoking Audi A4 eventually dropped back towards a great battle for 4th. Abt kept going and came home 3rd. His team mate Kris Nissen had spun down the field on the first lap, but clawed his way back up to 6th.
