Afanasiev tops Brno final practice
Sergei Afanasiev went quickest in Friday's second Formula 2 free practice session at Brno
The circuit was fully dry following this morning's rain, with lap times nearly 20 seconds faster than in FP1.
Afanasiev, who finished on the podium last year at Brno in Formula Master, claimed the top spot by setting a time just 0.014s quicker than Kazim Vasiliauskas on the final flying lap of the session.
Tom Gladdis and Benjamin Bailly were third and fourth - the latter completing his first dry laps of the Czech circuit.
Philipp Eng and Nicola de Marco - who both finished on the podium here last season - were fifth and sixth, both within 0.020s of Bailly's time, while Dean Stoneman was just another three hundredths back in seventh.
Ivan Samarin was eighth, ahead of Steven Kane's best time in the test car, with Mihai Marinescu and Natalia Kowalska rounding out the top 10.
Jolyon Palmer, who was fastest in the earlier wet session, was only 12th this afternoon, while regular front runner Will Bratt was 17th.
Palmer, Eng and Stoneman were the only drivers to spin during the session, up until Plamen Kralev's off brought out the red flags two minutes before time.
