A statement from the Player's team

Following the death of Player's/Forsythe driver Greg Moore at Fontana on Sunday, Jean-Paul Blaise, President of Player's, has issued a statement on behalf of the team. It reads:

'There are no words to describe our grief in the face of this tragedy.

'Greg was more than an outstanding race car driver with a brilliant future. He had a passion for the sport and a zest for life. He was person with an engaging personality, a friend to everyone in the community and a true ambassador for the sport.

'Everyone at Player's Ltd, as well as the Player's/Forsythe Racing Team, wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Greg Moore, and it is our sincere hope that they will find the comfort and courage to cope with this terrible ordeal.'

Moore's team-mate Patrick Carpentier also paid tribute to his team-mate.

'I feel privileged that I had the opportunity to be Greg's team-mate the last two seasons.

'I had a great deal of respect and admiration for him, both as a professional and as a person, and I think every driver in the CART series felt the same way.

'It is a devastating loss and my heart goes out to Greg's family and the many people who were close to him.'
