Silverstone MotoGP race

Rins: "Unbelievable. I don't have words to explain. VAMOS! I was so close to do a big mistake because two laps to the end I was thinking was last lap, for that reason I overtake Marc on the straight.

"I was keeping the calm, I knew the was faster on the last part of the sector, but last corner for me was unbelievable, I was much faster than him, and finally we get it."
Marquez: "Happy of course about the championship - about the race, no. Losing on the last straight is not the best feeling.

"I knew that Rins had a good chance, because I did all the race in front. And here when you are in front you just push more the tyres. But the one lap I just close the gas, and we help each other, but he was just closing, and I was afraid about Yamaha riders - I say, okay, I keep pushing, because my target was not the race, was the championship.

"I knew if Yamaha riders arrive maybe I can finish third or fourth. So, yeah, just keep pushing and pushing, I did all the difficult things, but in the last turn I missed the front, I closed gas and he had better grip, he overtook me. But okay, happy, he's very far in the championship, we arrive here 58 in front and we leave 78 in front."
Vinales: "I try my best, I was looking for the last laps, I thought I could catch them, I try my best. We take the maximum from our Yamaha, we suffer a lot on the top speed, but somehow I managed to do it on a good race.

"Silverstone is a good track for me, but anyway now we come to tracks that I really like to ride. And I think we can improve. It's a good day for me, we need to keep working."
This is a bit of vindication for Silverstone, too, after last year's rain debacle. The new surface is admittedly yet to be tested in the wet - by MotoGP, at least - but the riders pretty much universally loved it in the dry.
Championship: 1 Marquez, 250; 2 Dovizioso, 172; 3 Rins, 149; 4 Petrucci, 145; 5 Vinales, 118; 6 Rossi, 116; 7 Miller, 94; 8 Quartararo, 92; 9 Crutchlow, 88; 10 Morbidelli, 69.
Rins, a premier-class grand prix winner for just the second time, celebrates like he's won the title. Marquez, for his part, looked genuinely drained - but the championship seems as good as in the bag.
This is Suzuki's second Silverstone win from the last three races (ones that actually happened) here. The GSX-RR certainly fancies this track.
Aleix Espargaro must've had some sort of technical failure, because his pace faded badly in the final laps and he ended the race in the pits with a lap left to run.
Finishing order: 1 Rins, 2 Marquez, 3 Vinales, 4 Rossi, 5 Morbidelli, 7 Petrucci, 8 Miller, 9 P Esparagro, 10 Iannone, 11 Bagnaia, 12 Guintoli, 13 Syahrin, 14 Lorenzo, 15 Abraham, 16 Rabat, 17 Nakagami.
Unbelievable. Absolutely phenomenal stuff. A MotoGP finish for the ages, two weeks on from a different MotoGP finish for the ages.
Marquez tries to go slightly wide through Woodcote to cover off another Rins move round the outside, and Rins lunges down the inside instead. He wins by 0.013s!
Rins is in Marquez's slipstream exiting Aintree, and stays ahead intro Brooklands. But Rins is all over him still!
Rins is not close enough to line up a move anywhere here - but there's still a few corners left.
Marquez and Rins are side by side through the start-finish line as the final lap begins! Marquez stays ahead. Vinales is now almost with them.
Rins picks off Marquez, but is immediately re-passed through Aintree!
Rins is all over Marquez, tries to send it down the inside of Vale but cannot find any room. Marquez holds firm, for now.
Rins is being compromised by how much quicker he is than Marquez through some of these corners, because he just cannot find a way past and is being run out wide.
It's not. With three laps left to run, Rins is somehow right back on Marquez's rear. And Vinales is now as close to them as he has been this whole time - though still pretty far.
Rins has a major moment out of Vale in Marquez's wheeltracks, and drops to six tenths behind the Spaniard. Is that it for the victory battle?
Rossi's faltering pace has rebounded somewhat, and he's keeping Morbidelli at a safe distance, but Vinales is now a rather brutal 6.5s clear.
Four laps to go. Vinales won't be a factor unless something extraordinary happen, it's all down to Marquez and Rins.
Miller re-passes Crutchlow, looking to put some shine on what is turning out to be a pretty wretched British GP for Ducati.

Dovizioso is in the medical centre, Petrucci is just about keeping the Espargaro brothers at bay for a lowly eighth, and Bagnaia is running a desperately lonely race in 12th.
"Mapping 3", Rins is told on the dash. We're now into the final five laps, and he remains within three tenths of Marquez.
Rossi's pace has gone off - he's now over four seconds behind Vinales, and might end up having to worry about Moribdelli in a couple of laps' time.
Vinales is now around a second and a half behind Rins. He's closing, but he still needs a lot more - and perhaps needs the pair ahead to do him a favour and begin a proper scrap.
Crutchlow has retaken sixth from Miller, but their continuous duel has allowed Morbidelli to consolidate fifth.
Eight laps left to run. Rins is all over Marquez, and his Suzuki does have that reputation for being a touch kinder to the tyres.
Current order: 1 Marquez, 2 Rins, 3 Vinales, 4 Rossi, 5 Morbidelli, 6 Miller, 7 Crutchlow, 8 Petrucci, 9 P Espargaro, 10 A Espargaro, 11 Iannone, 12 Bagnaia, 13 Guintoli, 14 Lorenzo, 15 Syahrin, 16 Abraham, 17 Rabat, 18 Nakagami.
An update on Jorge Lorenzo - he is up to 14th, largely thanks to attrition, and is having to fight off Hafizh Syahrin for that second point.
